At Chiron Digital Health, we are committed to ensuring that our mobile app and website are accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), to ensure an inclusive and user-friendly experience.

This accessibility statement applies primarily to the Chiron mobile application (app), and also the Chiron website which exists to provide information and signposting to the App.  Chiron is a UKCA-marked Class 1 medical device which provides self-management options to help people with long-term conditions to manage their symptoms. The application has been extensively designed and tested with a clinical population, and is continuously being updated based on feedback from patients.

Compliance status

This app and website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA  standard.

While we strive to ensure full accessibility, some elements may not yet be fully compliant due to the current limitations listed below. We are actively working to address these gaps.

Current limitations:

‍

We know some parts of this app are not fully accessible:

• You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
• Video streams provided by third-party providers do not have captions.  
  
  • We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment when the supplier contract is up for renewal, in 12 months.
• Some of our app sliders are difficult to navigate if you have a problem using your fingers for fine motor control  
• Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the  information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).

Accessibility Features

1. Perceivable:  

• Zoom is enabled across the mobile application.  
• We’re moving towards having captions available for video content, and transcripts for audio content.  
• Both the app and website maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for large text and UI elements.
• Video content is available on horizontal play to enable a larger screen size

2. Operable:  

• All interactive elements (e.g., buttons, links) are accessible using touch screen or assistive technologies.  
• The platforms avoid content that flashes more than three times per second.  
• Clear and consistent navigation is implemented.

3. Understandable:  

‍

• User input includes proper labels and instructions.  
• Error messages provide clear and actionable suggestions.  
• Content is written in plain language for better readability.  
• We’ve also made the app and website text as simple as possible to understand.

4. Robust:  

‍

• Both the mobile app and website are compatible with modern assistive technologies, including screen readers, screen magnifiers, and voice control systems.  
• Content reflows properly on smaller screens and adapts to different orientations.
• Both the mobile app and website have been designed with best practice guidelines in mind.

We are committed to ongoing improvements and have planned updates, including:  

• Enhancing user experience and app design including improving sliders
• Improving video/audio/image files as detailed above
• Conducting regular audits and user testing.
